Ostrich anyone

After a long week of work, I decided our family needed an extra special family adventure. I heard about a festival that is held down in Chandler every year, and we couldn't resist. So today in our blog we present.... the Meldrum family trip to the Ostrich Festival (queue dramatic music).

The festival was basically a huge fair with lots of rides, food, and entertainment. One of the first places we went was to see the petting zoo. There were goats, cows, sheep, and even a kangaroo!

Both girls wanted to feed the animals, so I could not help but get a small cup of animal feed (since I was secretly hoping they would ask anyway). At first they were a little scared of the rowdy goats, but then they learned that they licked the food out of your hand.

After letting the goats lick their hands it was just pure fun.

Hadley thought it tickled to feed the goats, and would laugh each time she got to feed them.

Then was the most unique part of the festival, the ostrich races! They had multiple races and used bareback riding and chariots!

After watching the live action I realized that it was not as easy as they made it look in Swiss Family Robinson (much to my dismay, as that was always a childhood dream of mine).

The rest of the day was filled with magic shows, dog shows, and delicious ostrich burgers for lunch.

Allie said this was the best family adventure ever (this might be hard to improve upon next time).
