So, a couple of weeks ago I got released from the YW presidency but did not have a calling for a while. I was so bummed as I wanted to stay with the youth. Well, I am with them again as their early morning seminary teacher for next year (spoke too soon). I am teaching our ward & the 1st ward kids every morning at 6:45. I am so excited but humbled as I now want to go back in time and take a lot more notes during my seminary years. The curriculum is the New Testament and I have my first of 3 trainings this Saturday down in Orlando so I will for sure take notes.
If anyone has any great memories or ideas about seminary, let me know!

The kids dancing, and they enjoyed it!
I just loved this picture of Mike as my cowboy!

This picture is for Gracie. It is a baby gator that we found when we went to the bat house on campus.

How neat! You'll be nothing short of an amazing seminary teacher. And you get to experience early morning seminary for the first time...lucky you!
From my teaching experiences, I'm satisfied when I know people have felt the spirit. We rarely remember words that are said, but we can recall times when we have felt the spirit strongly.
...my two cents.
And I'm so glad you found your Rainbow chip icing (I'm sorry you had to go to Wal-Mart to get it). I remember those college days with your frosting in the fridge as your little snack.
I liked fun scripture mastery games (weird, I know). Don't get too frustrated if the kids aren't totally focused every day. Early morning seminary is tough...for everyone. I always loved Friday donut/muffin days, naturally. :) Good luck! You'll be awesome!
Congratulations on your new calling. I think you will make a wonderful seminary teacher. I had 4years of early morning seminary and although it was tough waking up at 5am, I wouldn't have changed it for the world! What I loved and remember the best is the Old/New Testament song which goes through all of the books found in the bBble. Till this day I can tell you what follows Amos and what comes after the Acts. I now it's cheesy but I am so glad that I can recite all of the books found in the Bible. I have plenty of more tips. Just let me know:)
Rach, you will be the best seminary teacher ever. Your only trouble will be getting the young men to take you seriously and not have crushes on you!!
My mom was my seminary teacher for two or three years and I remember loving that not only did she teach really well she made the atmosphere open so that we could have discussion. She once passed around a box and said that we could write a question any question in the box and she would answer it on Friday, it was anonymous. This was a great tatic to get everyone there and to get discussion going among the youth. Some great questions were asked and they were honest and more than one person wanted to know. It was great because by the end of every year, we were a family. That was a big deal in Las Vegas as I am sure would be in Florida.
Good luck you will do GREAT!!
Seminary Teacher!! Erla, you are going to be amazing. That is the perfect calling for you! It always amazes me how much the Lord knows what he is doing. The gator picture scared me!
How fun Rachel! I remember back in the days. We had a class together, was it Bro. Redd? That calling would intimidate me, but I can totally see you being GREAT! I remember the classes that weren't boring the most. So try to have fun too! That fits you so well, I know you'll be amazing!
Rachel, you will be an AWESOME seminary teacher. Plus, I love seeing Mike in a cowboy hat. How fun! I can't wait to be down in Orlando, hopefully we will be able to see each other!
It's not everyday you hear someone getting called as a seminary teacher. How exciting!!! You will be so great for those kids. The year I had a young seminary teacher was by far the best. They'll love you.
P.S. I've got a blog now. You'll have to check it out from time to time. It's www.bradandcassie.blogspot.com.
Early morning seminary is a little rough... You'll do great, though! The youth are fun. I love youth!
yea for early morning seminary! I slacked on my seminary attendance my senior year--can I attend your class as a replacement?
