It Had to Happen Sometime!

Sad to say, We had our first BURNT DINNER of our married life.  Well, I should say that it was so crispy, we did not even attempt to eat it.  So, here is the sad story of a crispy dinner.
One night, we were putting away our groceries in the freezer and found a cut of beef that was bought to make steak burritos.  We decided the the next day was a perfect day for those and so in the morning, I stuck the roast in the crock pot with some water and taco seasoning on low.  I have done this before and it has always turned out perfect.  This time was totally different as you can see by the BLACK nastiness!  And I would like to note that the pictures don't even do it justice!  I think that if I would have dropped the roast on the ground, it would have shattered into a million pieces.  It was so hard and so horrible, we decided to go out for dinner that night.  Our apartment smelled like burnt tacos for a week!
This one was definitely a soaker!  (although Mike always claims any pan is a soaker)
My disgust at our dinner.
Now, I have always loved cooking and have never really burned anything before, so I think it is quite fitting that I do it in the CROCK POT, the one cooking method that was made to avoid this problem.  Pathetic, I know.

Rach, don't worry about it, it was just a bad piece of meat, it has nothing to do with you, I promise. You will not be judged by this cooking experience because you don't have kids that don't forget anything and remind of every cooking mistake you have ever made.

I can't believe it! That's not supposed to happen to Rachel!

Wow, I wish that I could say I've only burnt our dinner once! Poor devin . . . I don't know how he is gaining weight! You are an amazing chef and I have no doubt the next night's dinner was amazing! Miss you!

This is hilarious! If I would have done that I bet Trevor would have eaten it - a little anyway. He eats anything! Me, on the other hand, would have gone out to eat too. I've heard you're the greatest cook so I'm sure it was nothing you did. Better luck next time!

Pathetic? What's pathetic is that in your short married life this has only happened once and not until now! And even more pathetic is that I have lost count of the dinners we didn't eat due to burning or just plain failure. I know you are a cooking pro, but everyone needs a screw-up now and then.

I have to say, that looks pretty disgusting! I remember my first burnt dinner which I tried to eat! Needless to say, after the first bite we decided to go to Wendy's! That was a big deal in our early married life! I'm sure that you are an awesome cook!
