3 days after we moved to Arizona, we trekked our way up to Utah to visit Mike's Grandma and surprise my parents with a visit. The girls did a decent job with the 12 hours of travel, but we also don't plan to make that trip again very soon. We made the mesa to St. George leg in one day and boy were the girls ready to get out and play when we arrived! We met up with GG and took her out to eat at her choice- McDonalds. :)
It was really fun to see her and have the girls interact with her. Allie loved talking with GG and dancing and singing for her. After a couple of days staying at the condo, we headed up on Friday to surprise my parents. My mom works at the temple on Fridays so we got a key from Aubrey and arrived while they were both gone, waiting for them to get home. Dad got home first, parking the car and then going to the mailbox. On his way back to the house, I had Allie run out to meet him and it took him a second to realize that it was Allie and she was not supposed to be there. While waiting for Mom to get home, Dad went to go get pizza and we heard Grandma pull in to the garage so we got both the girls out into the garage to meet her. Mom saw that Dad was not home yet so she was taking her time getting everything into her purse and when she looked up, she saw the girls and screamed, scaring poor Hadley and then she jumped out of the car and started crying, exactly as Dad had predicted.
I have always wanted to surprise visit someone, so it was really a fun experience! All my siblings were in on it so we could make sure that we were all there for the 4th and that my parents would be home. I just wish that I had been smart enough to take pictures of our surprise, bummer!
