This year for the rodeo, we cowgirls ventured out on our own and had a heyday not once, but twice! We went on value Wednesdays so it only cost $5 total for all 3 of us to get in AND we got to ride the free shuttle bus one of the days, can you say cool or what!
The first stop of the day? Pig racing! We got a seat right up front and watched those little porkers race for an oreo. Allie thought it was awesome, Hadley just liked looking at everyone cheering on their pig.
Another favorite for Allie was the cow milking demonstration. Allie's love for milk is quite strong, so seeing where it actually comes from really made an impact on her. Now she points out where the udders are on all of her barnyard animals in her farm.
If seeing a cow being milked wasn't cool enough, she also got to pet a cow, and her calf.
I know this is totally unrelated, but this guy has the coolest wheelchair/tank! I guess if you are working on a farm with mud and such, you need something with a little more grit. We thought it was pretty cool.
Now that Allie learned where milk comes from, she wanted to try it out herself, on a fake cow with plastic udders.... she still thought it was awesome.
Can't go to the rodeo without seeing the clowns
They have a kids activity where you go through the whole process of feeding chicks, growing/picking your own veggies, getting wool from sheep, milk cows and pick peaches and corn, then take them to market to sell and get a dollar at the end where you trade it in for a snack. I think we ended up doing this like 3 times this year because Allie just loved it so much. We also ran into our friends the Schurdells there while picking carrots.
Maybe Allie has a future in tractor driving? It might help to be able to touch the pedals first.
Nothing like ending the day with cotton candy! One day I am going to own a cotton candy machine so I can make it any time of day.... yum!
We also were able to go a week later with Mike so we could spend our carnival tickets and ride the carousal, play some games and win 2 bears (but only because she was cute, we really didn't actually win), eat carnival food, pet the crazy animals in the petting zoo, and the absolute favorite- riding on the ferris wheel. Yeehaw!
